I just got a HSDPA connection running on my Asus EEE PC (running the original Xandros Linux). It’s easy peasy (like sunday morning). I just connected my HSDPA modem via USB and added an HSDPA/UMTS connection with the network manager. Voilà !

Did you really get HSDPA?
I have successfully created a UMTS/GPRS connection, but not HSDPA even though the USB modem is the Vodafone (UK) HSDPA (7.6Mbs) card (huawei-E272) that works fine under Winblows.
When I get to the “Network Registration” part of the wizard, the “Service” drop-down is disabled and when I click “Search”, it says it’s “searching for UMTS/GPRS networks” and NOT HSDPA.
Did you get an option to chose HSDPA in the “Service” drop-down?
I just tested it and I got download rates in Firefox up to 150KB/s (1.2Mb/s). I think this must be HSDPA, but I’m not absolutely sure about that.
I have a huawei-E220 modem from T-Mobile (AT).
Did you get an option to chose HSDPA in the “Service†drop-down? The “Service” drop-down is disabled when I get to the “Network Registrationâ€.
Cheers. 1.2Mb/s is not bad at all.
I’ve tried this procedure once again and you’re right. There is only GPRS/UMTS in the list. I am quite happy with the speed, even when it’s not HSDPA.
Thanks. I’ll be back if I find a solution, and will keep an eye on here just in case you do.
