Authentic Indian Food in Linz

There is an Indian restaurant in the middle of Linz that serves authentic Indian food: Royal Bombay Palace. I really enjoy hot and spicy meals and I’m one of those people ordering everything extra hot.

Try it, it’s the best Indian Restaurant around.

If you like your meal very hot just order a glass of salted (or mango) Lassi, it mitigates the effect and let’s you eat all extra hot. Here is the menu card (PDF), I recommend the ‘Chili Chicken’ if you like meat!

We arrived there at 22:30 after a whole day of hard work and got something to eat despite the fact that they close at 23:00. Excellent service and great food, this is rare in Linz!

After I have completed registration for the upcoming Linz marathon I received an email today from the organizing team. It’s an invitation to attend an information evening about pain-free running.The email itself was not so pain-free. They included all recipient’s mail addresses in plain text and I counted 825 unique ones. For a moment I played with the idea to make a reply to all

Anyone here from sports marketing, I have some potential customers to sell?

BTW I found out that two friends of mine are in the list and at least 5 members of the police. I think, safety is guaranteed.

Keep on running

Everybody knows Spencer Davis Group’s single “Keep on runnin“. The song is about a man running after a woman, and she keeps running and hiding.

Well, I just thought it’s maybe more satisfying to run with and not after someone and I have just registered for the Halbmarathon in Linz on 2008/4/13. I’ve never ever run a (half) marathon (21.1 km) before and it will surely be a great experience. For now I really hope I can handle to keep up with training and that there’s enough spare time left to do so.

Segway in Linz

While waiting in my car on the Linzer Hauptplatz I saw a Segway driver. They are a very rare species here in Linz.

And he then recognized my small Asus Eee PC on my lap. So everybody’s got something of interest, I think.

Well, the WiFi hotspot here is slow, but after such a wonderful, fun filled weekend nothing really matters.

Flock 1.0

Flock 1.0 is out. Flock calls itself a social web browser and to keep it short, Flock has finally reached a state–not only by leaving beta–that makes it a great social web experience.
I really can recommend it for people who are using social sites as Flickr (batch photo uploader), Twitter, Facebook, … it even has a really nice off line blogging feature for your own blog.

Rechtskraftstempeln gehen

Heute am Linzer Bezirksgericht wegen eines Rechtskraftstempels gewesen. Nichts besonders mitgenommen außer Ausweis und eben zu stempelndes Dokument. Eine halbe Stunde dann am Service-Center mit Warten verbracht. Während der Zeit Schulkollegin getroffen – nun Richterin dort – und über alte und neue Zeiten geredet. Die Dame im Service-Center teilt mir mit, dass ich falsch bin und in die Abteilung 5, Zimmer 101 (Trakt E, Linz, Austria, Erde usw.) muss. Leider sind die seit einer halben Stunde im parteiverkehrlichen Nirwana und ich kann’s ja mal probieren. Das tat ich dann auch.

Blonde Dame im Zimmer 101 war mächtig grantig wegen meines Eindringens und grantelte über die Service-Center-Angestellte. Zu meiner Ãœberraschung waren ihr auch meine optischen Sonnenbrillen ein Dorn im Auge. Ich zitiere die grantelnde Blondine: “Tragen Sie in Innenräumen immer Sonnenbrillen?” – Wahrscheinlich ist man mit Sonnebrillen auch schon eine Art Terrorist? Naja, ich erklärte ihr, dass dies optische Brillen wären und ich die nicht ablegen kann (die normalen Brillengläser waren im Etui im Auto!), weil ich dann ja quasi blind wäre. Sie darauf: “Das [Tragen der Sonnebrille in Innenräumen] ist ja allgemein unüblich.”

Gut, dass sonst alles in Ordnung ist mit den Beamten am Gericht, gell?

Ach ja, wen’s interessiert: die gestempelten Dokumente bekomme ich zugeschickt.
